The ENhANCE Project

Programme: ENhANCE (EuropeaN curriculum for fAmily aNd Community nursE)

Scientific Director: Dr Christos Kleisiaris

Goal: Funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ Programme for the call EACEA/04/2017, KA2: Cooperation for Innovation and Exchange of Good Practices – Sector Skills Alliances – LOT 2: SSA for Design and Delivery of VET. Contract No: Nr 2017-2976_591946- EPP-1- 2017-1- IT-EPPKA2- SSA – Ref.17D027253.

The ENhANCE Project will target a specific existing mismatch between the skills currently offered by nurses working in Primary Health Care (PHC) and those actually demanded by both public health care institutions and private service providers when applying innovative healthcare models centered on PHC. Currently no standardized Professional Profile (PP) for FCN has been defined at EU level taking into account WHO and EU recommendations.

n addition, the main EU reference tools and classifications don’t refer to this innovative figure. Starting from existing research evidences and results of ongoing EU Projects, a PP for FCN will be defined, as the EU benchmark for VET of FCNs. The competence-based PP will be the baseline for the definition of an European, innovative, learning outcome-oriented modular VET Curriculum for FCN. It will target both formal and non-formal and informal learning. Thanks to its flexibility and modularity, it will be possible to instantiate the general EU Curriculum into national Curricula, considering local and contextual constraints; specific Guidelines will support this process.

Three national pilot Curricula will be designed and delivered in Italy, Greece and Finland to test the effectiveness of the EU Curriculum. ICT tools, Open Contents and detailed Guidelines targeting specifically VET trainers and teachers will be provided supporting the implementation of the national curricula. The ENhANCE Alliance includes 12 partners, from 6 different EU countries representing VET providers in the field of Nursing, Regulatory Bodies for FCN training, Professional Associations and Public and Private Employers.
